| FILM SUMMARY | | The film tells the story of a young shepherdess, Maria, and is set in the autumn of 1522 on Tilos, a small and far-flung isle in the southern Aegean plagued by Saracen raids. When Maria saves the only survivor of a pirate shipwreck and hides him—Ali, a young man—from her elderly husband and the other shepherds, she finds herself drawn into an impossible and dangerous relationship. |
